Avatar cannot be set – convert error

Hi,
I´ve noticed some issues with setting the avatar.

When uploading an Avatar with a TS3 Client the Avatar might not get sent back as the Server seems to not find the avatar:
2025-07-08 04:11:50.255990|INFO | | |Error opening file “files/virtualserver_1/internal/avatar_”: No such file or directory
When trying to show the Avatar with a TS6 Client no error is shown in the Server log but the Avatar is also not shown.

When I try to set the Avatar via my TS6 Client I get the Error: convert error.

Thanks for reporting, we are already aware of this issue and a fix will be included in the next update.

Hi everyone,
I’ve only been able to rule out that the issue isn’t caused by the avatar image itself. I tested the same image on another server, and it worked perfectly there.

However, I’m getting the following error: “Avatar cannot be set – convert error.” At this point, I’m stuck and unsure how to proceed.

I’ve already checked the maximum allowed avatar file size on the server — I manually set the limit to 1 MB, and my avatar file is just 35 KB. So as mentioned above, I really don’t think the image is the issue, since it works on a different server.

System Information:
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
Server Location: /home/teamspeak/teamspeak-server_linux_amd64
Permissions: teamspeak:teamspeak (rw)

Thanks for the report, as already mentioned above this is already fixed in our internal testing versions of the client and will be fixed with the next beta update.

Got the same error for weeks maybe months. My TS6 client is on the latest version
Build Number: 1760432259
Build Date:10/14/2025, 10:57:39 AM
Chromium Version:140.0.7339.0
Version: 6.0.0-beta3

Same error “Failed to set avatar: convert error”

Was the fix in the update from 2 days ago or is on the way?

Yes this update should include that fix.

I just retested with external users as well as 3 different devices connected to the same network and it was working on my end.

What server version are you using?

It is a community server currently running on v6.0.0-beta1 • Linux and managed by a friend. Is there a way for him to update the server version?

In this case you’ll also need wait for the server to be updated.

This should happen within the next few weeks.
