I’m using the linux client but I’m unable to upload files while my friends that are on windows are able to upload files just fine. I can still see the files, I can download them, and I can create folder structures in the files as well. I don’t know what logs to provide, but if needed please let me know where I can find them and I’ll happily provide.

Drag and drop only supports only 5 MB, due to the current implementation. The UI handles the upload and would be frozen, until the upload is finished, therefore it is capped at 5 MB.
If you want to upload larger files you need to use the file browser window and select the file via the file picker.
I’m also unable to upload files or server icons via picker and drag and drop - which is especially bad since I’m testing the TeamSpeak 5 server which isn’t backwards compatible atm.
Hey there wanted to mention that the drag and drop of the filesystem wont work for some reason you need to use the file browser for it to work
Drag and drop only works with files up to 5mb due to technical limitations of the implementation. If I remember correctly it should at some point be reworked so that it supports more than 5mb files.

Ye sure but as i sad when you use filebrowser it seems to work and the data wasnt 5 mb btw
i am trying to send files/images in a channel with my friends but we cant send anything over 8mb, so im just wounder how can i change this, i have tried a few things but im not sure if anything worked we are in the group server admin but idk ive had ts for like 1 day
You need to open the file browser and upload the files there through the upload button. Due to technical limitations it is currently not possible to drag and drop files that are bigger than 5 MB into the client.

same issue still applied sadly…
So I’ve set up a TS3 server and we are using the TS6 client. When we try to upload files to the chat its says that the files are too big, doesn’t matter if we drag and drop or if we use the file attachment feature. When uploading using the file explorer I get an “invalid file size” error. The server is using no where near the maximum storage capacity it was granted and I cant find anything in the permissions that suggests a max file size for simple file uploads

Whats the point that all uploaded images and texts go through your servers? Some friends have issues with opening images, isnt that point of self hosting? Is there still limitation 5MB?
How am I supposed to change my avatar if the selection dialog doesn’t open neither drag and drop works? Come on, guys! It’s 2025 and Linux gaming has been growing.
[Edit] The selection dialog opens in the “server file manager”. Did you forget to add the dialog in other parts of the program?
Hi, I am encountering an issue when trying to upload a video file to my community server, the file size is 9.84 MB and I’ve read in an old support article that the maximum allowed size is 10 MB yet I get the error message that the File is too large. Someone mentioned in a comment not too long ago that the maximum size is only 5 MB and now I’m confused.
Is this issue related to the ongoing issues or is the actual allowed size smaller?
Will be that migrated to self-hosted servers @SYOX @LeonMarcelHD is that the case in development? I can see big advantage of big file sizes and speed, if you self host, it doesnt make heavy load on your infrastructure.
My friends had issues with your servers when someone sent a file, that some providers didn’t show attachment correcly - it was just loading (this issue was already in TS5).
Are you trying to send the video to the chat or upload it to the file browser? If you try it in the chat, try the file picker, because drag and drop supports a maximum of 5mb. If you try it in the file browser you have to check if all permissions are set correctly.

theres infinite file upload as long as you upload it in the file browser thing, you can then copy a link to it and send it in chat.

Thank you for your responses.
I tried uploading the file via the paperclip icon on the bottom right of a chatroom on my community server but that didn’t work with that 9.84MB MP4.
So just now I’ve tried uploading the file again by right clicking the chatroom<Browse Files and this worked and I could link it to the chat, however there’s no option to just play the video in the chat, instead my friends would need to download the file first and then play it on their computer.
Do you know if there is maybe another way of linking the file to the chat that allows it to be played/viewed in the chatroom or is this currently the only way of sharing a clip?

yeah apparently this was a docker problem. Drag and drop is still weird but now my friend can bring my server down by uploading 10 seasons of Family Guy
Drag and drop is client side limited as otherwise the client would be frozen until the upload is finished. This is a QoL improvement which should be fixed but no date yet.
