Hi everyone,
I’m using an Astro A40 headset with the MixAmp, which has two separate audio channels: Game and Voice. When I set the MixAmp’s Voice channel as my Playback Device in TeamSpeak 6 Beta Client, I notice that the incoming voice audio (other people talking) sounds noticeably quieter/reduced compared to what I’d expect.
This becomes a real problem depending on the quality of the other person’s microphone or headset — if someone already has a slightly weak or low-gain mic, this extra volume reduction on my end makes it very hard to hear them clearly, even at max system volume.
I’ve even tried boosting the mic gain to +10dB on that user’s client settings (per-user volume adjustment in TS6), and the incoming voice is still noticeably low. So it doesn’t seem to be something I can fully compensate for from the listening side either.
Some details:
-
Headset: Astro A40 + MixAmp
-
Playback device selected in TS6: MixAmp “Voice” channel
-
Issue: Overall perceived volume of incoming voices drops noticeably compared to using the “Game” channel or other playback devices
-
Tried: setting +10dB gain on the specific user in TS6 — volume is still low
-
This doesn’t seem to be a Windows-level volume/mixer issue, since other apps output normally on the same device
Has anyone else experienced this with the Astro A40/MixAmp specifically, or is there a setting in TS6 (gain, normalization, AGC) that might be interacting badly with the MixAmp’s Voice channel output?
Any insight or workaround would be appreciated — this is making group calls harder than they should be.
Thanks!
