Could we bring back global server text chat. I found this to be a really important part of teamspeak to annouce or type stuff to people global. Its also annoying when somone on ts3 posts something in there and i cannot check it within teamspeak 5.
Hello!
Ever since starting to use the TS5 beta, I have been unable to find where server-wide chat messages are in the UI. Does anyone know where to find them? I have been able to find the channel chat messages, but canāt seem to find the server-wide ones.
What is interesting, is that when someone sends a server-wide chat message, I hear the little ādingā sound effect, so the message must be going somewhere⦠right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Server chat isnāt shown inside the client and probably wonāt be shown in the future. There have been some other posts here from @Adam regarding that if I remember correctly.
Ah, bummer. Any idea the rationale behind that? It is really tough asking my TS3 friends to resend the messages to the channel chat for me and my TS5-using friends.
Also, I donāt seem to be able to load @Adam 's profile at the moment, I will try again later.
Any idea if there is going to be any plans for sending server wide notifications? I would think that would be a requirement for TS5, because how would you communicate with all users on a server (say, from an adminās perspective)?
Thanks for sharing that! I am fairly new to the new forums, sorry about the repost!
Hey, so I have been using the TeamSpeak 5 client for a while on a server that is running TS3. And sometimes the Admins have something to say and put it into the chat for the whole server to see. Here is the thing as I am using TS5 I havenāt been able to read the things they say.
Where can I see the server chat?
I donāt think its possible yet in TS5 client.
Hello,
so i got the new Teamspeak 5 Client today and my question is:
Does it have a global chat like the one from Teamspeak 3 where you can see who connected to the server for all the time and not like for 10 minutes which you have by newer version.
I would appreciate if you would answer.
You mean Server Chat. That one can no longer be used.
The only thing from there you get is the events.
Are there any updates on this? Our community has been using the server wide chat for more than a decade and I found it impossible to convince teamspeak 3 users (which is everyone in our community) to use the channel chatrooms instead. Being unable to chat with my community is not an option and has been the reason why I havenāt touched the TS5 client in a year. I consider the server chat to be one of the most important features and I cannot wrap my head around why anyone would remove it.
I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on the reasoning behind that decision.
Is there any update regarding server chat?
Is there a reason why the Server Chat patched out?
I agree that the Global Chat on a Server is important. Why remove features that are already implemented?
Please add it back to the client!
so on TS3 i see i can type in the server channels chat that everyone can see from any room. ive got both clients up and when i type in the server chat it does appear on TS5 in the little ārecent server eventsā icon at the bottom, but i cant for the life of me figure out how i can type a message in that room on the TS5 client
ah okay thank you so much. just curious too i saw in the advertising for this clien pictures being sent in the chat i see emojis can be put in the chat but i tried to copy an image and it didnt work. was this scrapped or just not in yet?
Hi TeamSpeak Team,
I would like to suggest bringing back the traditional global āServer Chatā tab (or a similar interactive input window) in the TeamSpeak 6 client, similar to what we had in TS3.
Currently, when a TS3 user sends a message in the Server Tab, TS6 users can only see it as a read-only log under āRecent Server Eventsā. However, TS6 users have no way to type back or reply to that global broadcast directly from that window.
For communities running hybrid servers (with both TS3 and TS6 users), this creates a massive communication barrier:
- One-Way Communication: TS6 users can see TS3 global messages but cannot reply in the same global context.
- Fragmented Experience: Relying purely on Channel Chat or Matrix rooms splits the text conversation entirely between old and new client users.
My Proposal: Please consider adding a global server text input field (perhaps integrated within the āRecent Server Eventsā or as a dedicated global chat room tied to the virtual serverās traditional text broadcast channel). This would allow TS6 and TS3 users to seamlessly chat globally across the entire server just like before.
Thank you for your hard work on TS6!
