i have suddenly started having my headset pick up the TV as bad background noise when, before, it did not do that in Teamspeak. Is there something I may have messed up in Teamspeak that would cause this?

What Client are you using? what headset? what is your gain set to. Are you using PTT or VOX?
If you are using VOX, Check your Mic “Voice Activity Detection mode” and adjust from there.
