Can't change myTeamSpeak email address due to complex password

Hi everyone

I tried to change my myTeamSpeak email address today. Here is what I did:

  1. Logged into my myTeamSpeak account
  2. Clicked on “Change“ button next to my email address on this page: https://www.myteamspeak.com/my-account
  3. Entered my new email address and clicked “Change email”

Then I received an email on the old email address where I clicked the confirmation link.

Then I received an email on the new email address that asked me to validate the desired new email address. When I click the link in this email (https://www.myteamspeak.com/userarea/my/change-email/validation/?email=[redacted]&validationKey=[redacted]) then I am asked to enter my password again.

After entering the password this error message appears:

Can someone help me resolve this issue?

Please open the browser console and check for any errors

In the browser console I can see that my browser sends a POST request to https://www.myteamspeak.com/api/change-email-accept and a few milliseconds after it receives a 503 response.

Please let me know if you want to see any of the headers or bodies.

After that I get redirected to https://www.myteamspeak.com/maintenance

Sorry for the long wait, I was on vacation.

  • Can you simply try it again? I just checked and I was able to change the email. It might have been a temporarily service outage.

  • Have you tried it via a mobile internet connection?

I just tried it again but for me nothing changed.

I also tried confirming the email change on my smartphone (–> different browser on different device and different internet connection) but there I also get the “Sorry! Something went wrong” message.

Maybe there is something wrong with my account or my e-mail address?

Do you think there is anything else that I can try?

Hey,
I’ve just noticed that you have 2FA enabled on your Account.

Can you check if the email change works when you temporarily disable it?

I’ve forwarded this issue to our dev, however he also couldn’t find anything wrong on our side. :confused:

Hi,

I managed to change my email address just now.

The issue was apparently that my password was too long or too complex.

I was using a password manager to generate a 100 character long password (because that is the maximum allowed password length) with all boxes ticked for special characters. For example:
Ï2ÚÔªýÃhe@²`æe½¾òµb÷»¼Ey+d:e"¥dÀuNÇ^0GB2`Ãïç´.z¯8·ªwÈx8_ÇEj¹)f7¹.,Zß±cZí<ÈÌ^ÂÀéÚëþ8áxد$òbøé<d_½>Öä6

I temporarily changed it to a 64 character long password with only alphanumeric characters. With that password I was able to change my email address.

Maybe your dev can find out if the length was the issue or if there was any unsupported character(s) in my old password. If you want I can send you my exact old password via a secure channel. (I am not sure if it is safe to post here in a public forum.)
