Hello everyone, and I’m very sorry about this likely very noobish question. It’s been years since I last used Teamspeak…
I have just granted myself the admin privileges on my new Teamspeak community, and was therefore assigned to the owner role.
However, when I tried giving it a custom icon and a different name, I get errored out with “insufficient permissions”, which unfortunately makes sense: The owner group was given a Group Modify Power of 75, but the Needed Group Modify Power for the Owner group is set to 76.
This is intentional. In the past, many users removed themselves ranks or altered permissions, which required manual recovery on our end. To prevent this in the future, all newly created communities now include this “safety lock”.
If you want to use custom icons, you need to create new groups and keep the Owner group icon unchanged.
We do not recommend this for new TeamSpeak users:
But like mentioned below you can daily drive a different identity with just the Server Admin permissions.
Please keep in mind that if you somehow manage to delete this one or loos it. You may loose full access to your server. So proceed with caution and only if you know how identities and permissions on TeamSpeak work.
Edit: Okay, apparently you can’t leave the group or edit it. So if the icon bothers you that much, you could connect to the server with a different identity, where you would then only have your desired server group. Just copy the bookmark, edit the copy and select a different identity.
Hello, I bought a teamspeak6 server. I wanted to change the icon on my server, but I am not allowed to change the server owner icon. Am I not the owner of the server? Why can’t I change it?
