Dumb question but I had to ask. Been trying to set it up on a server with no success.
We can right click and turn it on ourselves but if we make a whisper list:
list group: Group
group type: channel commander
target channel: all channels
and try to use it, it highlights everyone who has channel commander when I talk but they can’t hear anything
Thanks for the report, we’ll look into this issue.
After a quick test it looks like it does not work on the latest TS 6 Community (v6.0.0-beta1). Whispering to server groups also does not work.
Just to be sure: are you using a Community or a regular TeamSpeak server?

Thanks for getting back to me so fast!

I did some testing with Irish, and we discovered that whispering to “clients & channels” works.
It’s only when the list type is “groups” that it stops working.

Hello Leon,
I am the owner of the server in question. IrishInsanity and OCMathew100 made this post on my behalf. Thank you for the quick response you gave us.
If you’re interested in customer feedback, I’d like to offer some. Channel Commander and TeamSpeak’s whisper features are historically why we have used your product. We’ve been on Discord (like everyone else), and we were very eager to switch back over to TS6 this year with the news of the update and release. The low max server capacity and lack of Channel Commander functionality are very disappointing for us. But, since we’ve already paid for the server, we will continue to use it.
We all want to use and support your product—desperately, even. TeamSpeak has always appealed to larger communities that rely on features such as Channel Commander and an abundance of slots. TS6, right now in its current state, is lacking player slots and Channel Commander functionality.
We have no plans to go anywhere yet. We want TS6 to succeed, but I can only stress to you the importance of scale and tools like Channel Commander to support that scale.

Thanks for the feedback.
I’ll forward the bug report next week to our dev team. I am unable to provide an ETA for the fix at this time due to our limited development capacity.

I’ve set up server groups and when I try to whisper to another group that person does not hear it, but I see the red outline on both of us. I verified that the whisper talk power is higher then the need power. I see group in my whisper list as well no issues. I’m not sure what to do, I need whisper to work for my server. I’m new to teamspeak so maybe I’m doing something wrong.
Thank you for your help and expertise ahead of time.
Just for confirmation, you’re using a TeamSpeak Community right?
If yes then this is a known issue when using the lastest server version which is installed there.
Whispering to selected users inside of the whisper list should work but not when using Channel, Server or Channel Commander Groups.
I’ll get you an update regarding this bug report during the week.

it is a teamspeak community and a server group. I was not aware this was a known issue. Do team speak communities work on older versions of teamspeak? I can always use an older version till the update is pushed.
The Communities are running on the latest (unreleased for self hosting yet) TS6 Server.
I am not sure and can not confirm this right now, but I would guess that this is a client issue.
You could use the latest TS5 client (before the TS6 update) as see if that works or it may work with the TS3 client, however whispering is a bit less convenient in therms of UX.
If the TS5 version works, please shoot me a DM so I tell you one more thing about that.

Yeah the ts5 version didn’t work. I guess i will have to wait till the update is out then. It still said my community or server was in v6 like you mentioned above. I couldn’t even get the community to be noticed or connect via ts3
I just tested with TS3 this is a server sided issue and not a client related issue.
Like mentioned above I’ll try to get a status update for this bug report.

We have a bug fix ready for the next server update. Unfortunately I can not give you an ETA at this time when this update rolls out.
In the mean time I can only suggest to set up whisper lists with the clients inside it instead of using server groups.
Sorry for that.

Thankyou so much. Channel Commander is the most important feature for my community and just knowing that it is coming eventually is great for us.

Is there a general pattern or period of server update pushes? Such as Quarterly, or anything like that? We’re also looking forward to this feature being fixed. Loving the new TS6 look and feel so far, keep up the good work!

No unfortunately I don’t have an ETA at this time
I’ll follow up with the team next week to see if there is an update on this.

We are planing to deploy an update soon but that is easier said than done so we can not provide a fixed ETA.
But we are working on it!

Did the channel commander fix make it into the recent update?
I am not sure if this is fixed on production as I can’t test it there, but I tested it on our development environment and there it was working.
Meaning that with the next update this issue will get resolved. Again, I can not provide an ETA. Sorry for that.
