Curious if this setup would work

I would like to use TeamSpeak5 to set up a system which is probably quite uncommon so I was wondering firstly if it would work and secondly how I’d go about setting this up with channels, groups, whisperlists, power levels and so on.

There will be 4 rooms, each of them separate from one another. Within each room there will be 2 microphones and a referee. Outside these rooms there will be a desk set up for each room acting as a supervisor. And on top of that an oversight.

Here are the parameters required:
The microphones should only be outputting sound and on an open mic. Only the supervisor of that room should be able to hear them.
The referees should be on a push to talk system where the supervisors for that room and oversight can hear them.
The supervisors shouldn’t be able to talk but can hear the microphones and referees from their respective room.
The oversight covers all rooms so when any referee speaks they should hear it. They should also be able to reply on a push to talk system so for room 1 they would hold “1” while talking and for room 2 they would hold “2” while talking etc.

Did I understand the setup correctly?

Channel A:
Mic 1 (only mic)
Mic 2 (only mic)
Supervisor (hear Mic 1 & 2 / Referees)
Referees (Push to talk, can only be heard by the Supervisor / Oversight)

Channel B:
Mic 1 (only mic)
Mic 2 (only mic)
Supervisor (hear Mic 1 & 2 / Referees)
Referees (Push to talk, can only be heard by the Supervisor / Oversight)

Channel C:
Mic 1 (only mic)
Mic 2 (only mic)
Supervisor (hear Mic 1 & 2 / Referees)
Referees (Push to talk, can only be heard by the Supervisor / Oversight)

Channel D:
Mic 1 (only mic)
Mic 2 (only mic)
Supervisor (hear Mic 1 & 2 / Referees)
Referees (Push to talk, can only be heard by the Supervisor / Oversight)

Management Channel:
Oversight (can hear everything and talk to Channel 1, 2, 3, 4)

Yes that’s correct

That would be possible if I have not missed anything.

You can mute people and create whisper lists to achieve this setup. How experienced are you with TS 3/5? Do you need further help setting it up?

Is the ref allowed to listen to their respective room mics?

On each ref client, you set up a single wisper group to super and over
on the overs, you set up multiple whispers to the room (or just to ref and super)

Set the Mics in their own room and park the super, and the ref if they are allowed to listen to the mics. Otherwise, they will go to their own rooms.

The refs will be in the room so hearing their mics would cause echo so they shouldn’t hear them. I’m not very experienced with it so any help would on how to set this up would be really appreciated

  1. Get every client onto the server.
  2. Move all clients into their respective channels.
  3. Mic 1 & 2 clients should mute the Supervisor / Referees.
  4. On the Referees client you’ll need to create a whisperlist with the Supervisor / Oversight in it. Set the desired hotkey for it.
4b. Set the client to Push to Talk in the Audio settings.
  5. The Referees should mute Mic 1 & 2 to reduce echo
  6. Oversight client should have 4 whisperlists with Channel A, B, C & D as their target

You can easily create the whisperlists trough the Overlay.
Just head into the SettingsWhispersSwitch to Server and Overlay

Click the + enter a name for the whisperlist and now you can drag and drop the Clients and Channels into the Overlay menu.

To setup a key binding, just select one in the Overlay.

Tip: you should enable the Live Preview if it isn’t already to make the setup easier.
