Just backup said files/folders to a temporal location
install and start up your new ts3 server
stop it
paste the files of your backup definetly overwrite if asked
start it

Well it is just no screenshare

Any info about TS6 release for self hosted servers was announced? My most loved feature in TS was option for self host. I’d like to host server with all modern features like screen share and web cameras!

It’s beta 1 - please, don’t forget that

Then they shouldn’t be taking to Twitter to announce that ā€˜screen sharing is finally here’ and certainly shouldn’t be linking articles on how to delete your discord account.

Teamspeak was always a thing about selfhosting

Which makes it completely reasonable to have expected server binaries.

I’m glad that they clarified that the binaries will come, but I still think this was really poorly handled and should be called out as such.

Yeah I did expect the server files myself, but seeing it from another perspective having all the errors on hand as they host it in ā€œcommunitiesā€ for now

They will be able to provide a more stable experience for when the Server Files are actually provided

If server errors were coming in through forum they would spend a ton of time fixing initial issues with the TS6 Server which could be easier diagnosed on systems they have control of

But I do agree they should have announced the missing Server Files early on

Thank you so much for your transparency with us! We all truly appreciate that we now have the ability to host our own TS servers, including the screen-sharing feature. This is a fantastic step forward, and we’re all very excited about it!

However, I have a suggestion for improvement: Currently, hardware acceleration is not enabled during screen sharing. It would be amazing if the screen sharing could utilize the GPU instead of relying on the CPU. As it stands, it puts quite a heavy load on the CPU. I believe this would be a valuable improvement that many users would benefit from.

Thank you in advance for your efforts!

My problem here is that no approximate time frame can be given once again. I’ve been a loyal supporter of the software since TeamSpeak 2 and jumped on board with TS 5 as soon as possible. However, this whole ā€œwe’re bringing out a new goodie but can’t say anything about the other important thingsā€ is really concerning. Screenshare was teased for three years, and for two years in a row, Twitter posts claimed, ā€œthis is the year of screenshare,ā€ and in the third year, it finally came with the release of TS 6.

This direct statement, ā€œyes, you’ll get your server files, but we absolutely can’t say anything about an approximate ETA,ā€ just fuels the fear that we’ll once again be left out in the rain for years without real status updates—something that, unfortunately, has already happened far too often in recent years.

The ts-services repository on github just went 404. :frowning:

It was the old unsupported ts5 matrix Server.

Is there known will be ts6 server soon released?

A post was merged into an existing topic: Completely obliterated Communities

Yeah I would agree that I have no high hopes until I see it happen, I do hope it happens but when that will happen is in my eyes based on TS5 History rated as: Vapourware

I have also been through TS2 and still using TS3, so based on that I do know what wonders they can actually do

I know they are a small team, but transparency is not their force - RoadMaps could do much
Set an expected date without promise, will still do a lot

I have been burned so many times telling friends that it will happen soon – So I will not do much until I see the server files running on my machine

When Teamspeak 6 server files are released, we will not be able to directly upgrade our servers with version 3.13.7 that we are using now ?

Since some years i do pay for a TS3 - server - lizence.

Does anyone know if this lizence will work for TS6 an well or do i have to purchase an new licence if i switch my self hosted server from TS3 to TS6?

I asked the support and they said that it’s already clear that TS3 licenses won’t work for TS6 servers. We’re not renewing, since we can’t be expected to renew something that might immediately become obsolete during a surprise update, loosing a lot of money just because TeamSpeak cannot correctly communicate what is actually going on.
We need the server component and we need it yesterday. Normal users have already started making fun of the update, since most new features won’t work on servers.

Sorry, did I understand correctly ?

Are we going to buy a ts6 license to install a Teamspeak 6 server ?

I expected that, if it’s gonna work good and server sided screenshare, I don’t see a single problem in it. You have to understand that TeamSpeak is a company as all others, they have 0 profit if you self-host and use their programs.
