As soon as you mute your speakers on a server, the server icon becomes a muted speaker.
If you don’t have your speaker connected, none will appear.
My suggestion would be that there also be an icon that marks that the sound is muted.

That’s discussable. Because you see that giant dialog in each active server tab telling you to fix that.

Sure it is.
However, when connecting to larger servers where the default channel is not really high up in the server tree, this dialog is not displayed because it is fixated above the server tree, so you would have to scroll up first.
But of course this is just a matter of habituation.
