Hello,
I’ve taken a VPS server located 800km from my home, installed TSServer, and the latency is 23ms (Command Ping). When I connect with a second username to hear the voice in a headset while speaking with the first username, the actual latency is 150ms (127ms + 23ms).
I did another test with a VPS server 100km from my home. I installed TSServer, and the latency is 3ms (Command Ping). When I connect with a second username to hear the voice in a headset while speaking with the first username, the actual latency is 130ms (127ms + 3ms).
So I’ve noticed that regardless of the server’s distance, an additional 130ms must always be added.
I performed a final test by installing the TeamSpeak server directly on my computer. The latency is 0ms (Command Ping). When I connect with a second username to hear the voice in a headset while speaking with the first username, the actual latency is 127ms (127ms + 0ms).
Is this normal?
The settings are at their default values.
I just bought a third VPS server located 6100km away. Latency measured on TS3: 132ms (Command Ping). Voice feedback after 266ms (134ms + 132ms). The additional 130ms delay is still present.
How exactly do you measure the latency? Are you using a test recording and analyzing the video/audio?
Can you check the connection info tab for the latency?
Right click on the user → Client Connection Info

Yes, I recorded a video and compared the microphone timeline with the computer’s audio timeline.
I took the number in “ms” from “Client Connection Info”. It’s noted as “Command Ping” in the previous post.
Is this due to the microphone?
Since the latency is consistent during the tests, I would assume so.
Can you try checking for the blue dot to start lighting up. This way it is more obvious, when it starts to broadcast.

On the server with a ping of 3ms, the second identifier does receive the blue dot at the same time, when I talk with the first identifier.
On the server with a ping of 102ms, the blue dot of the second identifier lights up 116ms after the blue dot of the first identifier lights up.
Therefore, my microphone takes 130ms to respond. Which low-latency microphone would you recommend?
I can’t really give any recommendations, it’ll depend on your preference. Maybe ask a few friends to do the same test to find out how their mics are performing.
