This is an issue which did exist in 2012 already but never could be reproduced. But thanks for the report.

The issue differs in 3.6.0 and we can reproduce it and will fix it.

I could reproduce it. It’s easier as i thought (at least for 3.6.0).

1. Type at least one character into input field.
2. Click on a user or channel in server tree.
3. Done

We are going to fix this.
