Optional privacy setting for the online status

I would like to have an option to choose who actually can see my status and who doesn’t.

For example:
On public available chat rooms, I don’t like that everyone can see when and how I’m online.
But I would like to show my status at private chat rooms or to my contacts (or contact categories).

I think its unnecessary.
You can’t vary separately on any other platform, just globally.
I do not see the point.

This is nothing we like to touch because
AFAIK the Matrix protocol sends the information of the status anywhere and not separately.
