Questions before committing to switch to TeamSpeak

I’m currently considering whether switching to TeamSpeak 6 is worthwhile and have a few questions. Which features of TeamSpeak 6 actually work?

  1. Is it a monthly subscription that can be canceled?

  2. Do all the features listed on the TeamSpeak website actually work?

  3. Can you share your screen so others can see what you’re doing?

  4. Is TeamSpeak 6 only available on the official website? And do you receive a TS6 license?

  1. TeamSpeak 3 Client is absolutely FREE to download and install on your PC, Mac or Linux Box. Once installed, you can freely access 1000s of public TeamSpeak servers or even your own private TeamSpeak server.

If you have your own server hardware, you can set up your own private server, completely FREE-of-charge too!

A license charge comes with bigger slot requirements or monthly costs if you rent a server for to be hosted by teamspeak or someone else as a service.

  2. WHAT MAKES MYTEAMSPEAK THE NUMBER 1 CHOICE FOR PRO GAMERS?
    Things listed there work.
What not works is (but is generally not listed as a feature):
Peer To Server Streaming (Only P2P possible as of now)
    Text Only channels
Moderation of chats on TS6 servers (works in group chats)

  3. See 2. It works P2P, so it is possible. However check if your ISP or settings allow P2P connections.

  4. TS6 client is available, server files or on their github GitHub - teamspeak/teamspeak6-server: This TeamSpeak 6 Server Beta repository contains the latest beta version of the TeamSpeak 6 Server software, offering early access to improvements and bug fixes. This beta release is intended for testing and feedback before the stable version launch.
Beta servers come with 32 slots

    Client: TeamSpeak Downloads | TeamSpeak

I would always only download from official sources.

Unfortunately I don’t have a server or the hardware for it so I’ll probably have to buy one.

I just migrated to TS6 my own server

  • Is it a monthly subscription that can be canceled?

I did not need a subscription to use the new version, It is only required if you use it with more then 32 people

  • Do all the features listed on the TeamSpeak website actually work?

Cant tell did not check.

  • Can you share your screen so others can see what you’re doing?

Yes tested and worked, Other ppl in the channel do need TS6 for els they can not see.

  • Is TeamSpeak 6 only available on the official website? And do you receive a TS6 license

You do not need a license without a license max ppl is 32

The only minus point is you need an account to use the TS6 Client.

Yes, but you’re talking about a server that you have at home.

If you can’t host it at home, then you can either use the official community plan for easier setup, or rent a cheap VPS, and set it up yourself.

All I’m going to say if you were paying for Discord nitro, then Teamspeak hosting is cheaper than the monthly nitro.

You can get a cheap VPS that you can host the server on for like a $2 a month or something.

Next time tell us maybe where you are switching from

Discord → Ts6

okay How do you set it up on the VPS?
