Robotic Sound on ts6 Client

Hi,
My microphone sound sounds robotic in ts6 client. But in any other programme this problem does not occur. Even when I try two applications at the same time, the sound sounds robotic on the ts6 side, but it sounds clear and smooth in the other application. What do you think the reason could be?

How high is the sound volume set on your mic under windows sound?

Hi, I am currently having an issue with TeamSpeak, specifically a robotic voice I get when trying to talk.

  • Curiously, the voice is barely recognisable - just a mishmash of technical sounds.
  • The problem happens when trying to talk to people on a server, as well as when checking how I sound in the audio settings.
  • When listening to myself in the audio settings, the noise keeps going for a little while even after I stop the recording, or it ends by itself.
  • Trying to toggle various TS audio settings has not helped.
  • The issue seems to be consistent, i.e. my voice seems to be robotic for me and my friends 100% of the time.
  • I cannot replicate the problem when using Windows settings, Discord, Steam or Telegram; that is, the problem for me occurs only in TS. All of it using the same earbuds.

I am currently on version 6.0.0-beta2. This is my first time using TS, so there are no specific points I can locate after which the change occurred. I haven’t been able to find any info online that would help me. Nor have any of the suggestions from similar posts here have been able to help me.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Something I can try to do to see where the problem lies? I would be really grateful!

You use the earbuds via bluetooth, don’t you? If so, it is likely that this is why windows activates the headset handsfree mode, which significantly reduces the quality.
try do disable it in your device settings in windows!

Unfortunately, no, I use good old wired JBL earbuds, but I still appreciate the suggestion! Perhaps there is something else I may try to see where the problem (roughly) lies?

You could test it in Teamspeak 3 to narrow it down to Teamspeak 6 or Teamspeak in general.

Uh, this is a late reply, but I tried it, and I have found no difference, unfortunately. Still, thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you for your response! Here are the logs + a short recording of how it sounds (the “listen back” recording in the video is very quiet, but hopefully it’s still useful) TeamSpeak bobrit26 debugging - Google Drive
My audio settings are what you get by default with the client, i.e. Voice Activity Detection (VAD), noise cancellation and automatic regulation of volume (if that is the correct translation) are on. Please let me know, if I can share anything else or somehow export my settings. And sorry for the late reply!

From the logs it shows that your microphone is initialized with 4 channels. Normally a Microphone is being initialized with just one channel so this may be too much data for the Client to handle.

  • Have you tried the TS3 client and setting the capture mode to Direct Sound instead of Automatically / Windows Audio Session?

  • What happens when you lower the Bitrate / mix all of these channels together to one? (Windows Audio Settings / using a 3rd party audio mixer like Voicemeeter)

From past reports Windows Audio Session resulted in a robotic voice.
Direct Sound is a deprecated part of Windows and so we also do not longer use it or have plans to use it.
