just noticed there’s ability to create server nicknames, but I was unable to find detailes informations.
do you guys thing is a great free alternative to a paid domain name, or is always better to pay few bucks and get a managed domain name?
are there limits so server nicknames?
what happen if I want to change its pointings? is it possible? is there’s a TTL before it refresh/flush?

Well the paid domain still better for larger server.
Whenever you make a DNS change, you almost always see a disclaimer saying it could take 24-48 hours for your change to fully take effect.
Depends on which user is using which dns server.
For example, I use google dns and in this case it only takes a few minutes. 15-30min (mostly)

Server Nicknames will expire when there is no connection activity for 30 days and you can only set 5 nick/account.

You can edit anytime these nicks but honestly i never noticed how long it takes to make the change.
