Whenever I am watching a stream and someone in the channel talks or has any microphone activity at all the stream gets louder and then goes back to normal as soon as their mic activity stops. Is there a way to turn off the audio getting higher and lower while watching a stream?
This is most likely related to AGC[1] interfering with the stream audio. I’ll forward this for further investigation.
Can be disabled in the audio settings ↩︎
Turned off Automatic Gain Control and it fixed this issue for me (Audio → under Audio Processing).
Turning off AGC did not fix it for me. Would love to have an update on this.
This has occurred even before streaming was a thing. We still need a solid how-to if someone’s got one, we would be very thankful for it ![]()
Whenever a system sound occures, such as muting your microphone, the output increases from the current channel you are in.
I can confirm that this does happen from time to time: the audio gets quieter and louder whilst I’m actively typing and sending messages. Also happens when TeamSpeak sounds appear from microphone muted for example. See the attached video for this.
Over the past two weeks, while testing Musikbot, I kept wondering why the audio kept getting louder and quieter whenever I used certain features in the client, like chat or “mute microphone.”
Now it all makes sense—I was this close to posting about it out of sheer confusion.

We’re currently in the process of rebuilding the playback engine, once rolled out this behavior should be fixed, along side louder user volume when a watching a stream with audio enabled.
