Yes, everyone is waiting for it with great curiosity.
I have to be honest:
I am extremely disappointed with the recent developments. What exactly is this supposed to be?
You now require us to rent an overpriced server hosted by you just to use a simple screen-sharing feature. This goes against everything Teamspeak has always stood for: self-hosting and privacy. For years, your development pace has been frustratingly slow, while competitors like Discord are rolling out new features constantly. Have you ever considered that a self-hosted server option from Discord could be a real threat to you?
Here are some critical questions you need to address:
-
NPL Licenses (Non-Profit Licenses): Will it be possible to use video streaming on servers with an NPL license, or is this feature reserved exclusively for paid, hosted servers?
-
Existing Gamer Licenses: What about users who already own a gamer license? Will there be discounts or adjustments, or do these users now have to pay extra for a feature that doesn’t even support hardware acceleration?
-
Roadmap and FAQ: Why is there no clear roadmap or comprehensive FAQ to answer these and other crucial questions? An FAQ should have been available before release to avoid misunderstandings and disappointment.
It feels like no thought was given to how these changes would be received by your users. Instead, you rushed the release without even providing server files, which only adds to the frustration.
In my opinion, Teamspeak has always stood for self-hosting and privacy. But what remains of that now? Recent developments make it seem like the focus is solely on making money rather than delivering a stable product with real value. It feels like the original vision has been completely lost.
If I’m wrong, then prove it: Publish an FAQ, release a clear roadmap, and give your community the tools they need to test and fully utilize the product. The way things are going now will only drive away even more loyal users.
Here is my little feedback for TS6:
UI:
The new UI is completely different from the old TS5 UI, but I think you should shrink the UI a bit more. I think I currently have windows zoom enabled on my 4k screen. So please make it a bit smaller or preferably so that the user can adjust the size in the settings menu.
AGC:
The issue of TS3/5 is not yet fixed with AGC. Please fix this issue with AGC (users making loud noises and chirping sounds).
This solution is very important.
Screen sharing:
Screen sharing works very well. But please make it possible to separate the TS audio from the stream. Because most of the time I stream my screen and at the same time I am with my friend channel and talk about it. And it’s not so cool when you hear your own voice in the stream
Self-hosted servers:
I know others have already mentioned it, but for my feedback it is necessary to mention this feature. I know it’s not at the top of your to-do list yet, but I think it’s a very important feature for Teamspeak, as it’s what makes TS stand out. For this reason I would be happy if you publish this in the near future. If you publish the server files, I would be happy if you could limit or at least set the screen sharing functions there in the future, so that you need less performance on weak systems. (server side)
So that’s my little feedback.
If I do understand it correctly, it means you can rent a server with these specs for a price of 4€ / depending on the plan - max 9€ /month which is less than nitro, in tis plan (4€), you’ll get a private 24/7 server for 5 people max. (5 clients connected simultaneously, not limited to 5 specific clients / people since this could variegate)
So if you split the price, you’ll get a server with minimal storage but insane audio and streaming quality for less than 1€ / person a month - seems fair to me
(9€ plan has 25 / 27 slots for even bigger teams)
Or just host a random server / rent a VPS / root-server and install it bare-metal
(32 slots for free) – with license even up to 1024 / Server
Have the same issue
I have connected my own server that I used on TS3 and I cant screenshare there in any channel, do I need to change the settings somewhere?
You will need to wait for TeamSpeak 5 server. TeamSpeak 3 servers don’t provide new features.
The server needs to use the updated server files. TS3 servers don’t support new features.
The TS6 server is apparently on the way - but who knows how long will that take.
thanks for the info, but thats kinda disappointing, so for now i can only screenshare in groupchats and all that?
hopefully not as long as the last update took
its for TS Chat app that is not yet available for the public.
Here is the forum section for it: TS CHAT (Beta) - TeamSpeak

I have also noticed that when you try stream CS2 while using a 4:3 resoluation in just black screens and wont stream it at all but as soon as you chnage the res to native it works… seems kind of weird considering alot of ts users are cs players and alot of cs players use 4:3… dont mean to mention the competitor but this interaction works fine on discord.

On the community servers (ny1.teamspeak.com) have file transfers been blocked? I cannot upload files to the channels, icons for the clients/groups/channels, or even an avatar. error is simply - failed: lost file transfer connection
My community also does not start
Is there any way to purchase with something like paypal not credit card? Also is there hardware encoding thats just not working or is it not available yet (my cpu is absolutely getting destroyed by streaming). Also is there any specific time frame for the servers? TS5 has been out for a good while before and we never got the server to update to that.
Thanks
Why is teamspeak 6 now round pls change it my eyes are bleeding pls or i go to discord
