You need to make sure that the color code also is properly closed with [color=red] text [/color].

TS5 client uses markdown and does not format the old style bbcode that TS3 uses. At the moment you must decide to either markdown for ts5 users or bbcode for ts3. You can find basic markdown syntax here for example.
The new client does support part of BBcode. For example color, size and urls. But when the codes are not properly used, it won’t work.
