Right now, it’s only accessible to our Alpha Testers, so it’s in a closed testing phase. We’re making some adjustments to the different codecs and fixing various bugs and crashes at the moment, but there’s still work to be done before the full release.
Is HW.accel a part of server screensharing or a separate feature?
Since in our ISP environment P2P-sharing doesn’t work most of the time and me and friends can’t even test screensharing feature at all, but we have a VPS ready for this
Guys is there anything new related to TeamSpeak 6 update? Its more than 7 months since last update… ![]()
I know that Im annoying, but would like to hear any optimistic info in near future. Things are moving so slowly forward.
Something I can share is that we’re about 30 Client Updates deep into our Alpha Test Environment, so while it may seem slow on the outside (which I totally get), we’re definitely making progress behind the scenes.
Hardware acceleration is looking better and better each day, and the quality and performance are truly great.
I’m not up to date on the latest macOS screenshare information, but I know we’ve had to deal with quite a few challenges getting it to work properly on mac, especially with permissions for camera and display access.
We’ll also be updating the TS6 Server Beta soon, and extending the license since it expires on September 1st. We’ll share more details in a separate announcement post coming soon.
We’ve also got some exciting things in the pipeline for myTS, though I can’t talk about it yet.
Thank you for an answer, if you can talk about it, is there any active development about peer to server screenshare support?
Could you provide any information about it, when your devs estimate update to be released, is this within a month, or it takes much more? It would really help to convince our friends to stay on this platform, I’m paying for TS6 community service and nobody wants to use it, because screenshare in games is not performing good. Any additional info would be really good, I hope you understand me.
I have been here since TS1 and TS2. I was an early TS3 alpha tester and had an NPL license that was later deactivated without warning. That history matters because TS3 drove many of us away with high pricing and slow delivery of the features people moved to on Discord.
Strong update. Thanks for sharing progress on servers, streaming and 2FA. Yet TS6 will not gain broad adoption until licensing is crystal clear.
Main blockers
• Unclear licensing. No simple public license matrix.
• Many games ship built-in voice.
• No console support.
• Self-hosting is niche. Only enthusiasts will do it.
• No web client and no mobile experience comparable to Discord.
• Community trust was damaged in the TS3 era. My NPL was disabled. Others had similar issues.
What would rebuild trust
• Publish a clear license model with fair pricing. I would pay for a reasonable lifetime or annual license.
• Respect for legacy licenses or meaningful recognition for long-time users.
• A dated roadmap for self-hosting availability, web client, mobile parity and console plans.
• Visible commitment to community values. TS2 grew because of the community. Please remember those roots.
If these points are addressed, maybe TS6 has a real chance to win people back.

Thank you for the update.
Is there any concrete information about new beta? it’s been really a while since last update, could u give us at least any tip?
I also wonder when the new version will be released.
Could you share a status update on progress? A high-level overview, like shareable details or upcoming milestones, finished features, and or advancement status / outlook on time frame on the update?
Thanks!
Pure ignorance is killing this community. There was a good communication in the
middle of summer, since then is disaster.
Focusing on server licensing instead of releasing new client update is sad. 7 months since last beta, is there any chance to be optimistic about the future, definitely not.
Indeed, when will there be a new version of the client, or at least new details?
Years ago, I used TS3. After getting tired of Discord’s payment policies, I decided to look for alternatives. I talked to my community to convince them to migrate, got a mini-server to avoid paying for the cloud, and hosted the service using Docker.
But there are 3 points that are making me consider losing interest in the project entirely:
-
The update pace is extremely slow.** There aren’t even any betas released to test the progress and see the state of the project.
-
The communication from the TeamSpeak team is non-existent,** and this makes the first problem even worse. Unlike other projects, you don’t communicate the project’s status periodically. I don’t believe it would be that complicated or require that much work to update us every 15 days, for example, on what the team is working on and what issues they are facing. This would also help show that the project is moving forward and isn’t nearly abandoned.
-
Payments & Licensing.** The information about this is not clear at all, and it’s something you should clarify from the beginning. In my case, I was planning to self-host my server. I’m not saying it should be free, as all work deserves to be paid for, but could you please clarify if it’s going to be a one-time payment, a monthly subscription, or how it will work?
Regards, and I apologize for being so critical, but the current situation is genuinely making me consider giving up on TS6.
Here to give an update on where things currently stand and to clear up a few points:
First, we’ve been putting a lot of effort into Hardware Acceleration. This is a highly complex and time-intensive feature, and it’s not something that can be “simply” added and released in a few weeks. I don’t like bringing up our team size all the time, I really don’t, but the reality is that with the number of developers we have, it simply takes time to properly implement a feature of this scale.
Right now, our goal is to release beta3 within the next few weeks. There are still a few details we need to sort out, especially regarding macOS screen sharing and hardware acceleration. On top of that, we also need to ensure that 2FA works reliably with the Community Forum. Aside from those points, we’re really close to the next beta release.
As a little teaser, the next update will be called the “Foundation I” Update. It will deliver major performance improvements with significantly reduced memory usage, introduce P2P streaming with single-encoding, add drag-and-drop support for activities in the sidebar, and much more that we’ll cover in the release announcement.
We also have some great news for our Linux users:
I also want to point out that the developers working on product features and general implementation are not the same people handling licensing or pricing. These are completely separate areas, so progress on one does not take resources away from the other.
Hope this cleared some things up!
Yeah for the development of this thing against the community complains, you guys are heroes that nobody cares unfortunate ![]()
Thanks for the update!
Will this update enable streaming via the server (is this what is referenced in the P2P single encode?), or is that a future update?
I don’t think you need to apologise for the team size or how long things take. As long as there is some target release date with an idea of what features are in scope for it then I’m happy to sit and wait for that. Obviously if unforeseen challenges arise and that date or scope changes then it’s nice to have an update before that date, otherwise people here will be at you for news immediately ![]()
Appreciate it! To answer your question, server-side screen sharing is a separate project and will not be part of the next update. That will be another major undertaking that requires significant research and development time.
As for single-encoding, in this case, it means the stream only needs to be encoded once before being sent directly to peers (viewers). This avoids having to re-encode the same stream multiple times, which not only saves memory but also provides a big boost in performance.
Together with our new stream rendering system, it goes hand in hand and will, as mentioned above, provide a huge improvement in performance and vastly reduced memory usage.
Great ! Thanks for the update Syox !
Thank you for the update and details @SYOX I’m excited to explore the new features! When you guys release it.
As a follow-up: For more substantial bug reports that involve non-trivial fixes (like user error or user configuration)Are such fixes deployed as independent backend/server-side updates, or are they usually bundled into formal version releases?
Thanks!
