in teamspeak 3 for each channel you can setup a 3d room to position speakers like your around a table instead of all being in one spot. is there a way that can be put into teamspeak 6? it would make some of us who deal with sensory overload to better handle multiple speakers. thank you.
Hi,
I was looking up the features of TS5 and couldn’t find the option to enable 3D positional audio, which is the main reason why I am using TS5 instead of Discord (since the latter is much more convenient to use). Did I miss something or are there no plans to integrate something like this in the new version? Thanks!
Is there 3D Immersive User Positioning in TeamSpeak 6
because I couldn’t find it

That feature is currently exclusively available in TS3. An implementation for TS6 is currently not planed, however this may change in the future.
If you’re interested in that you can use it with the TS3 client on the same servers as you are using with TS6.
That’s an interesting angle given that it’s the 10th selling point on Teamspeak’s feature overview.
TS3 had a addon called CrossTalk that allowed for positional audio. It was pretty much mandatory to have for MMO FPS games like Planetside 2 where you have a team of 700+ players all working together in voice.
What would happen if people talked over each other the addon would pan their voices to different parts of surround sound so it was easier and clearer to hear multiple people talking and sharing information.
I think it’s worth having on TS6 especially since there are rumors of multiple MMO FPS games in the works. I know If I had positional audio right now, I would be using it in Star Citizen where we have multiple capital ships crewed with players running around fighting against other groups of capital ships.

Thanks for the response. I think that this is rather an issue of marketing. Most people are just used to a soundwall, like in Discord, but almost everyone I invited to TS3 for 3D positional sound strongly agreed that it was much better when having several people and longer sessions. Also, looking at what Meta is trying to do, you cannot have an immerse 3D world in VR without 3D positional sound. That is, I am making a case that this is the future and it’s a pity that you are abandonging this feature.
Honestly I wouldn’t believe in this, like… First it seems this is outdated…
I’m in dire need for 3D-Sound in TS6 like it was in TS3 or something similar.
I hear some people only on one ear, because their microphone only sends 1 channel audio which TS6 then relays on only one ear.
TS3 had this beautiful 3D-Sound feature where you could move individual users to certain directions. Alternatively you could select mono audio which also did the trick.
TS6 has neither. That’s an absolute deal-breaker because other programs like Discord or Steam Voice Call automatically put the audio in the center. But TS handles that completely different for some reason.
Please fix
If that’s the case you should switch your codec from Opus Music to Opus Voice. Even though it has a higher bitrate, it is not optimised for Voice…
Then there goes the last reason to use Teamspeak.
Thanks for all the years but that’s just stupid, is it not?
A new version of a software that got rid of many good features and in return offers only stuff that either doesn’t work or is just simply bad. Great
I guess this guy came from NTTS as well… ![]()
As my community has decided to migrate from Discord, I had enthusiastically began to host my own TS server only to find 3d spacial sound is no longer a feature. Absolute shame, as it was the best feature about teamspeak back in the day.
I did find that even if you have a TS6 server, you can connect with TS3 Client and still have access to setup 3D sound, so hopefully they introduce it into the TS6 Client sooner rather than later, as it really is a massive selling point of Teamspeak, and would be great not to need both TS3 and TS6 Clients installed just so I can play Arma 3!
Though that will also be dependant on how much the Arma 3 ACRE mod needs adapting to work on TS6.
i saw a previous post about how direction audio isnt planned for ts6. i want to know if the position has changed since a year ago? because i play alot of ttrpgs and part of that game enviroment in person is cross talk. to have that feature as part of your main stay in ts6 would be such a selling point for us ttrpgers. because currently we have to awkwardly wait until someone has spoken before we get the next response. and it comes off rude. if we could have the ability to place people in that 3d space like what happened in ts3. that would solve this issue for alot of people who play table top games via discord currently.
