Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing a reproducible bug in the latest TeamSpeak Android app that I wanted to document here in hopes others can confirm it and the developers can prioritize a fix.
The Problem:
As soon as I enable “Handsfree” (internal loudspeaker) in the TeamSpeak app, Voice Call gets automatically disabled. It is not possible to use Voice Call and the internal speaker at the same time. The toggle simply turns off and cannot be re-enabled while Handsfree is active.
Reproduction Steps:
- Connect to any TeamSpeak server
- Enable Voice Call (works fine)
- Enable Handsfree (switch to loudspeaker)
- → Voice Call is immediately deactivated and cannot be turned back on
This is an intended behaviour, as you’ll then use the output in speaker mode and no longer in voice call mode.

The problem is that when using Handsfree, the speaker output gets picked up by the microphone again and is transmitted back into TeamSpeak. I’ve tried adjusting all voice activation settings and levels to work around this, but there’s no value that works reliably.
This works perfectly on iOS and on my older Android device, but not on Samsung with newer Android/One UI.
I don’t remember that this was a feature in older version (both Android / App), but I’ll check with the devs regarding this issue.

We’re using an outdated version of the voice call API, which explains why it worked on older devices.
We plan to update the API at some point in the future, although there is no fixed date yet. We’ve already made promising progress in this regard, but we don’t want to rush it, as it might solve one problem for a few users but create more problems for others.

Great to hear that progress is already being made! No need to rush – as they say, good things take time. Looking forward to the update!
