When I log into the server, it immediately redirects me to voice chat.

That’s TeamSpeak’s thing. TeamSpeak servers are for voice communication. It offers channels to speak to each other.

In addition, on TeamSpeak servers, you can send messages within a channel.

Now that we’re finally on the same page about what this is all about, you want text channels in addition to voice channels.

Global/Persistent text channels:
This has been one of the most requested features in recent times (next to screensharing ofc ^_^), and we’re aware of the gap it creates, especially for new users/communities coming from other platforms where voice & text chats are part of the server, rather than independent services/areas. We’re open to the Idea of having server-wide/persistent text channels on TeamSpeak. The question is not if, but when and how. On the server side, there’s real work involved in doing this right. And the last thing we want to do is rush out a half-baked feature, especially when it’s such a highly requested one.

Based on the fact that some things have already been explored, this is the least we can provide at this point.

This request came up many times in the past when talking about new features, at some point prior we tried using the group chat system (Matrix) for the channel chats as well as implementing them in a Text channel way, However this was not reliable and stable enough so we returned back to our own protocol chat.
