Stream does not play audio // plays it on default communication device

Hello,

I have 2 audio devices attached to my PC:

  1. Satellite speakers
  2. Headphones

In TS client settings I select audio output to headphones, though in Windows itself default output device option is set to speakers.

TS correctly uses headphones in audio calls, but when I start watching a TS video stream during a call in the same channel (direct p2p stream from my friend if it matters), the video stream’s sound is played on speakers.
It seems TSC in this setup ignores selected output audio device option in client settings for a video stream’s sound. So if I am in an audio call and watching a stream at the same time, I have to turn off my speakers just for TS to be able to correctly direct stream’s audio in my headphones. It is a bit annoying.

How can I fix it?

TSC Version: 6.0.0-beta2 build 1737468425

Hey, Thanks for reporting. I’ve received feedback from our developer that this issue is already fixed with the upcoming version 6.0.0-beta3.

Hello,

I have 6.0.0-beta3 and my friend has 6.0.0-beta2. He starts a screen share of a game and I’m watching it. My client fails to play audio of the game, though client statistics show that audio packets are received.

Reading logs at AppData\Local\TeamSpeak\Logs\Default I see the following as audio related:

[2025-10-15 22:09:38.159] [info] Initialized with 2 channels in 32bit, 48kHz. - Realtek HD Audio 2nd output (Realtek(R) Audio)

Does it cause any problems when he is using beta3?

Unfortunately he cannot use beta3 since it does not start on his PC (even beta 3.1 fails).

I also tried to toggle output audio sampling rate in windows settings, but it didn’t help.

If I switch back to beta2, audio works fine.

Please retest again once we have a fix for the starting issue. We’ve made several changes in between both versions and a incompatibility may well be possible.

Some of my friends can hear my stream while others can not. We are all on the same version number and using Windows 11. It seems as if when selecting the output device it gets stuck to a random one on your machine that may not even have audio playback enabled, I tried to switch the output to my speakers and heard my friends chatting through them but my headphones were still playing the stream audio.

Currently the Stream audio is routed to the default communication device. Please check in your windows settings that the correct ones is also set as a default communication device.

This issue reoccurred due to our changes regarding hardware acceleration, we are working on a fix and it should be resolved with the next update.

It turned out the problem was my PC having more than one audio output. When I disabled all of them except one via windows settings I started to hear the stream from beta2 in my beta3.2.

Also we tried beta 3.2 on friend’s PC, but it has negative effects on game (breaks alt+tab, sometimes desync video and audio, sometimes video quality drops), so he’ll have to stick to beta2.

Like discussed earlier the client will output the stream audio to the default communication device which is set in Windows.

I was able to fix this by disabling my other potential audio devices in Windows. On Windows 11 you can search: Settings > System > Sound > More Sound Settings > Disable all other audio devices in Playback. YMMV.

Everything else works fine. I can hear and speak in channels and sounds works fine. I can start streaming, sharing screen and others can watch and hear sound. But when i join their stream, there is no audio. Right clicked and checked connection info, no audio data is getting received etc. Checked both audio settings in teamspeak and sound settings in windows 11 and everything seems in order. Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine had the same problem and it turned out the sound was connected to his controller somehow. Likely it’s not the reason but try turning your controller off if you have one and restart the stream or TeamSpeak.

Have you checked that your desired device is set as default for communication?

Since a recent update not sure which one… when my friends start a stream in ts6 and i click on it to watch, the audio of the stream plays through my speakers instead of my headset. My headset is my default device in windows and selected as the default in ts6, it used to be fine but now for some reason, streams just default to my speakers. The only way i can get it to play through my headset is if i disable my speakers completely in windows but its abit of a hassle to do that everytime i want to watch a friend stream… have i missed something?

Hey, try to change your standard communication device in windows!

My friend and I are trying out TS6 as an alternative to discord. I paid for the 10 slot community server thing as a trial but am having issues with audio in screen sharing.

First of all, we both configured everything so voice chat and all works well but in screen sharing, we both get no audio whether he or I stream. We can still talk to each other but there is just zero audio from the stream itself.

Where do I start to fix this?

I assume you’re on Windows.

Can you please check if your output device is set to default communication device in the windows setting.

Hello,

I am experiencing an audio routing bug where the audio from a screen share does not respect the manually selected playback device in TeamSpeak’s settings.

My Setup & Context:

When my computer boots up, my HyperX Cloud 2 headset is automatically set as the Windows default audio output.

I manually connect my AirPods and use them as my primary audio device for TeamSpeak, desktop applications, and games. For standard voice chat, the audio routes perfectly through the AirPods.

The Issue: When a friend starts a screen share with audio on a community server, the screen share audio ignores my TeamSpeak playback settings (which are explicitly set to my AirPods). Instead, it forces the audio through my HyperX Cloud 2. There is no option within TeamSpeak to change the audio routing specifically for screen shares.

Temporary Workaround: The only way I can force the screen share audio to play through my AirPods is by opening the Windows Sound Settings and completely disabling all other audio output devices, including the HyperX Cloud 2. Only then does the screen share audio finally switch to the AirPods.

Could you please investigate this routing issue so that screen share audio correctly follows the assigned TeamSpeak playback device without needing to disable Windows sound devices?

The stream currently plays on the default communication device, if this is changed in Windows, it should play on the desired device.

Like mentioned above this is a bug, that got reintroduces.
