I want to know something, is there any particular reason you need to update the server for the latest version all the time to work? Like why we can’t use an older version of the server? A few days ago I was trying to check things using a local server and using older versions of the server to see if they were still working and none of them works… I found this post below, where the exe was closing immediately and that’s what is happening to me…
So @TS.ChrisR said it was required to update the server, but why? We can’t use an old build of the server locally anymore? I mean if I wanted to use TS2 and TS1 locally I still can and it works perfectly even in modern systems, sure it’s not ideal but it works. (Also understandable, using an old server requires an old client to connect, I have both Client and servers which are compatible with each other, client works, but server doesn’t)
And I know Teamspeak team doesn’t support those old versions anymore, that’s not my question here, my question is why we can’t access those servers anymore. If that continues then, if TS3 gets abandoned and TS6 is the only way to use the software it means in a few years TS3 3.6.2 will also be inaccessible?
Thats the way the licenses are distributed within the server. As you can see the latest server version was released to update the free license of the server.
I see! So even if your use it in a local network, because the license was expired a long time ago it won’t work no matter what… Is this information about expiration date can be found in the TOS before using the server?
And the TOS on the TeamSpeak website state it like this:
What is a client license:
4.1.2 “Client license”: The “TeamSpeak 6 Client” software solutions, which run on end-user computers and connect to the TeamSpeak servers, can be used free of charge under the “Client license” model.
About the gamer and client licenses
9.1.1 The contract for the “Gamer” and “Client” license model has no fixed term. The license models can be used by the customer at any time, as long as TeamSpeak provides these license models, and can be cancelled by the customer on a monthly basis.
