Yeah, I think they have no idea how still uses TeamSpeak. If I want my server hosted in the cloud and give my data to a 3rd person, I already can use Discord for free. No need to rent a TeamSpeak server.
No, that is not the case. You can screen share in private chats, group chats, on public community servers found on your dashboard/in the server discovery, or on servers purchased via communities.
So it’s worthless?
and what about self hosted servers? can you screen share on those???
yeah this sucks, self hosted or back to discord
The whole reason i was excited for Teamspeak 6 is so i can self-host the screen-sharing and calling. Might as well use discord if i can’t even self host it yet
Will this feature work on servers we open ourselves via VDS?
We can’t edit/reply/delete/react to messages in community servers. Will this be coming soon?
Nobody will leave Discord like this. What kind of marketing idea is this, sorry? Absurd. Do you want to compete with Discord in this way? It took you a lifetime to update TeamSpeak. The last update was in 2023. Make us wait another two years.
Will this feature be available directly in the self-hosted server in the future?
Hey Syox,
I guess the TeamSpeakStaff mailboxes is busy right now. You guys could really cool down the whole situation with giving a roadmap for the next steps. Everybody wants a selfhost version. If you’d like to first test it in smaller circles on myTS community servers thats not an issue. The community just wants to know what it could expect. Especially after the big hyping on Twitter of the last days.
Love to hear from you/team. <3
OK, I’ve created a community server, where can I define the permissions that controls who is allowed to stream on my server? I understand the traffic is P2P, but I would still like to limit it to trusted people, last thing I want is some user joining to multiple IDs streaming porn on it.
Looking forward to coming back in 2 - 3 years for the selfhosted servers.
Did you mess something up with encoder support so it automatically uses software encoding via cpu? If this is done purposely (not supporting common hardware encoders like nvenc or alternatives) which i cant believe its DOA even more so
6.0 UI is dreadful, doesn’t even feel like the compact setting does anything. Hopefully it can be rolled back to the 5.0 UI.
Really great news! I hope that self hosted TS6 servers can use this feature for free?
Im really looking for the TS6 server files. And hopefully a SDK for writing plugins
I second this. Fonts are off and are too big in my opinion, and I also feel there’s too much margin/padding between the channels. I wish there was a way to make it more compact again
TeamSpeak 6, sounded amazing at first, almost too good to be true, with much needed features like screen sharing finally coming (one of the main reasons most of us switched to Discord).
But that turned mostly to disappointment as I realized screen share isn’t available with a self hosted server. Self-hosting is one of the few main draw points you still have over discord, and as it stands there’s little reason or hope of convincing new users to choose TeamSpeak 6 over discord.
I get it, having paid hosting for users that cant self host bring money in, though these plans maxing at 27 users and 2GB will surely be too limiting for some. But please for the sake of TeamSpeak community keep self hosting as is but add support for these new features. It still costs us in hardware, bandwidth and power after all, so some will choose to pay for your hosted servers (if competitive)
Understand I say this as a supportive TeamSpeak server owner since around 2007 (aka the TeamSpeak 2 days), and we still host a TeamSpeak server for the small fraction of our community that haven’t fully switched to discord (always a few stubborn ones haha).
I’m always rooting for TeamSpeak and love its self hosting, and while it might struggle to make a comeback after so many years, I think this might be one of the best chances if done right, better late than never i guess, right?
Oh also I’d love to see a way to make the interface, channels specifically more compact than the “small display setting” as the spaced channels make it the channel list twice as long, please add a setting to minimize this into a compact style.
absolute cinema
Yes, they need to add an actual compact mode or similar. I tried “small display size” in Appearance settings, but there still way to much spacing between channels.
