TS5 (or is it TS6 now?) Selfhosted

Hello!
Thank you for the update!

Somehow I can only use Screen / Camera Share on official community servers
I cannot share my screen and camera on my hosted private server.

I am new to TS and just selfhosted the server using docker using the following command:

docker run -d --restart=always -p 9987:9987/udp -p 10011:10011 -p 30033:30033 -e TS3SERVER_LICENSE=accept teamspeak

it pulled tag:latest version from docker hub

Should i change my configuration on the server side?

Because you’re still deploying the “old” TeamSpeak 3 server files. We don’t have access to newer files right now and there are no news about it.

Hopefully they don’t force us to buy a community to use these features…

Thanks for that fast answer!
Correct me if im wrong

New Screen / Camera sharing functionality wont work untill TeamSpeak team releases an update for server side TeamSpeak 6?
And now we can pull only TeamSpeak 3 server version?

Exactly, the TeamSpeak 3 server does not support screen sharing and you can’t pull a newer version yet.

Yup, exactly.
I hope the server files for TS6 will be released, because my friends and me really love TS over some other “software” haha.

Amazing! Finally
When we will get some information about new mobile app/server files to completely test it out? ^^

That’s really scary.
I hope the servers files will be released with the possibility to use screen share feature on self-hosted servers.

Otherwise, it will be so sad :sob:

Is there anyone who understands a bit about either TS6 itself or just how screensharing over the net works that could answer me if it would even make sense/work for local hosted servers to actually have screenshare?

nah, if u have self hosted server u need to wait the updated server files. TS3 server files don’t show screen share

Right now only “official” servers have the option for screen sharing, that’s because they have the new server files. We need to wait and hope to be released.

It would make perfect sense. A server is just a computer. So if you host the TS6 server on your/dedicated computer, you will have the same functionality as the official servers, but you own the hardware and don’t have to pay anything. That is, if TS team decides to release the server executable.

Has there been any confirmation, that we will get new server files at some point?

not necessarily true

There are likely licensing fees associated with running a larger server

I mean yea also thats the whole spirit of teamspeak.

There probably are. But as it currently stands, you can host a non-commercial TS server without any fees for a limited amount of clients.

Not for sure. They can only offer new features like screen sharing on paid they hosted servers. We hope they release the new server files. To be honest, I’m very hopeful because TeamSpeak has always been open, transparent, and almost open-source towards the community.

Hey guys,

thats propably beeing asked a lot but i couldn´t find anything recent: When will we be able to host a TS5 (or is it TS6 now looking at the Version number) Server on our own?

Without this feature it´s pretty pointless for me and my friends to upgrade to the new Client, as long as we can´t upgrade our old TS3 Server.

Agreed, no point to switching from Discord, if screen / camera sharing is Free there
And here we need to pay for this very basic feature :frowning:

Even if we were ready to pay, its very difficult for us because we come from Russia and VISA / Mastercards dont work here.
Btw discord is blocked here too

I genuinely appreciate the update, but once again, TeamSpeak falls short when it comes to providing clear release information. After an entire year without updates, we’re suddenly surprised with a massive set of new features—which, to be fair, I really like. However, there’s still no clarity on whether the screensharing feature will be available for privately hosted servers.

It’s also frustrating to see TeamSpeak staff actively moving posts around, clearly reading everything, yet choosing to remain silent on important questions. I honestly don’t understand this approach.
