TS6 BETA | Community Update & Insights

There essentially will be a SFU inside the client. However, it does not receive video streams from other peers and relays them to other viewers like a normal SFU does. Rather (& just like Leon said), a locally produced stream is sent to multiple viewers without the need to re-encode.

In the classical P2P implementation, every peer manages their own encoder essentially just sharing the raw video source. In this implementation, all peers share the encoder and thus you only have to do the heavy lifting of encoding a stream in VP9/H264/AV1 once and sent it out to all peers. This safes a ton of processing power (i.e. previously for 5 viewers, you would encode a stream 5 times, essentially having a 5x increase in system utilization, now, the CPU utilization nearly stays constant at 1x)

Hope that clears that up. The reason we are calling that an SFU is because, in a sense, it just is. A SFU receives an encoded stream and relays it. Now this happens all locally.

Hey, btw, what is ETA for this update?

okay that actually makes sense, thank you!

We’ve identified an issue with Apple Pay not showing up which should be fixed now.

I am buying my server through a company you are sponsoring, is there any chance I can get a badge?

@necrofexie The badge can only be obtained through a communities purchase on myTeamSpeak | Communities

not on my end still only option is card.

Which device are you using and have you made sure that Apple Pay is activated with a valid (not verification pending) Debit or Credit Card under “Wallet & Apple Pay” in the Settings app?

Also, check if this setting is enabled/disabled under “Wallet & Apple Pay”:

ok nvm now it works !

Quick question will there be a Community connect button for my server directly or do i need to make one? Since its the same Teamspeak account in the Ts 6 client i assume that there should be some extra button especially if its a community server hosted by teamspeak itself ?!

Hello,

When should we expect to receive the badge or badge code after purchasing a community?

Thanks

Edit: Ah, never mind. I should have read the post again. The badge will come sometime later as stated. Apologies.

Hello guys of TeamSpeak,

THX for the updates and the work on it. I tried to order a community server, but i dont have any credit cards. I prefer to pay by paypal. Perhabs you are able to add this payment to the community servers soon as well, would be appreciated

best wishes MASHINE

Any plans/update on a new mobile app? That’s the one thing that’s holding my friends back from joning.

Sorry for my question, but I can only find ppl which wish that but no informations about it.
Does the TeamSpeak Team make a Function for Text Channels (Like Discord or a Board) or does TS6 only support direct messages and Voice Chat ?

For my Community and some Communitys of friends, is this feature extreme important, because today nobody want to register on o Board System + TS6 Server, since discord its both in one.

I wait since Discord Release for a Better TeamSpeak but i cant switch if there is no possibility to make Text Channels or thinks like that for Community Talks in Writing, Informations and stuff like that.

As of now, we do not support/have text-only channels that are displayed on teamspeak servers. You can create a group chat and copy the invite link (or public address) for users on your server to join, and in there you can discuss or display any Information you would like for your community.

Ok that is sad, because then i am forced to stay at crap discord or buy a WBB Licence for my Community when i want to switch to discord.
Best is if you make it like in Discord with Textchannels for the Servers, because the mostly users are too lazy to use more then 1 platform for their community.

This answer seems as if you are not trying to implement such a function in the near future. But as I spoke to many people about TeamSpeak, this is a must-have requirement for a switch to Discord.

Teamspeak still has the opportunity to steal Discord users, but sorry, only a new “shiny” client with screen share won’t make it…
Yes TeamSpeak is great, but why don’t just adopt good parts of other platforms, to make it even greater.

I know its not easy to program with little resources but when Teamspeaks goal is to keep this alive, i think it requires a bit more.

Badges ETA ?

hello, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well! I have 2 questions if I may:

I just bought a server ( the $3.99 plan): will I get the badges “Communities Early Adopter” and “Communities Purchase” ?

the other one Q is:

can I delete the server I made? I made 2 to test the one that had the best latency and I would like to delete 1 of them.

Thank you!

Hi, i tried using the stream feature, but it appears that i can’t close this windows else the stream stops directly
I guess it’s a bug for the moment
