TS6 BETA | Community Update & Insights

I really dont know whats going on, I dont want to spread negativity here, but its really strange how it is going everything.

From “fine-tunning” server’s files, its more than 3 months and no information about it. If TeamSpeak wont step up fast, project will become history.

There is no reasons to move from Discord to TeamSpeak.

My opinion is, that TeamSpeak needs bottom things asap, if you want to survive.

  • TeamSpeak 6 server files
  • TeamSpeak screenshare p2s
  • Sending files in the chat 100 MB+ (dont know why is media uploaded to your servers, its only making more costs to your infrastructure. When there will be self host, I hope it wont stay like that).
  • Improvements when sending media in the chat (video, audio, …).
  • New mobile app, which support video share, sharing media to chat, … - this should be high priority

As I could see, I think there are 2/3 developers for whole project, I might be wrong but Its definitely not their fault. This project needs more developers for sure, but I stopped commenting things just lost faith that it will go in the right direction.

As I said many times, here are loyal people who want the best to this project, but silence is killing me and as I can see others too.

I’ll just presume that TS6 has been abandoned, lets put aside server files updates talk for just one second. There hasn’t even been any updates on TS6 itself??? Look at the last time TS6 client was even updated with any sort of communication LMAO… god knows what they’re even doing at this point. Might be time to move on lads, screenshare on discord and talk through teamspeak 3

The year in the changelog is not accurate, the last update was released in January 2025 and upcoming updates are currently tested with our testers.

I see, so here’s the correct image then

My case still stands even with the corrected typo in the client from YEAR pointed out from 2024 to 2025, its been a little over 4 MONTHS since any sort of update regarding the client. There are tons of people posting bug reports and feedback but it doesn’t seem like anything is being implemented at all, let alone even being acknowledged by staff.

Can we get an update on what is being WORKED on? What are things we can look FORWARD TO in the next update? As of right now everyone outside from the dev and “testing” team have no idea of what’s happening behind the scenes, no dates, nothing at all.

And now a suggestion from myself if it even comes to light, a roadmap of future development plans, even a Trello page that gets updated by the team so we can see how development is going, or if you want to keep it nice and simple… just be transparent with us and post your updates on the forums.

I’m not here to shitpost you guys, just like myself and most people here and this thread, we want Teamspeak to thrive and actually be better than Discord, but at least in my eyes it’s really going into a slippery slope going downwards.

The forum is updated daily by staff. They are very active and sort and merge posts and also reply to most/attempt to help. Many of the problems are known and in some individual cases it is difficult to help if no exact how to is known and so it cannot be recreated.

The post here in the thread is exactly about what will come in the next update/updates:

  • Hardware Acceleration
  • TS6 Server & Communities Stabilisation
  • Community Plans & Badges
  • Screenshare on MacOS
  • 2FA
  • Username Change & Account management

Of course, fixes and changes are collected and not an update is created for every little thing as long as it is not an urgent fix for a critical problem.
But yes, I agree with you that realistic dates or dates at all would be practical. Even if it can’t always be kept, it’s better to hear it: The update can be expected in such and such a time instead of just silence.

In 2019 there was once a trello road map. But I think one of the reasons why it was cancelled at the time was that it put too much pressure on them.

I’m also not happy with how Teamspeak communicates everything. Teamspeak has never been known for communicating well, so any news you can pick up is all the more pleasing. But compared to the past, communication has improved. I would also like to see Teamspeak return to its former glory, even if it’s not very realistic.

As I could read from staff’s replies there are improvements in client but still no ts6 server files… :frowning:

Correct me if im wrong, didnt find news about ts6 files.

I’ll keep it a buck, those topics have been in this thread since the day the thread was made but have any of those been implemented yet? Not that I’ve seen but a step for sure to show what they want to work on.

That’s good to know but its a bummer that they’ve completely stopped the Trello, even if they don’t meet their deadline at least we can see it’s still being worked on and progress is being made.

That’s what I mean, “ANY NEWS we can pick up on”. Communication is key but without it will just send everything into a downwards spiral. Even a “Hey, we’re working on these bugs, and this is what we have implemented so far with pictures” even without release dates would suffice and keep most people happy. What’s even more funny is this user is posting almost the exact reply as myself but for TEAMSPEAK 5; scary part is that he mentioned 6 MONTHS since the last update.

I won’t say much, except that I felt forced to cancel my community server. The reasons for this have already been listed by plenty of other community members.

This is sad because, I think many other’s do want to support you as well, but tbh. we can’t trust you blindly after this rocky past…

I agree. I also tried moving all my friends (and their friends) over to TeamSpeak — now would be the perfect time for it, and it’s a shame the TeamSpeak team is missing the opportunity. One major feature that kept many people on Discord was screen sharing. Unfortunately, TS6 screen sharing is still missing critical updates and improvements. It’s buggy, laggy, and overall unreliable.

On top of that, the official server rental locations are very limited. After just one day of testing, no one kept using the screen sharing feature. And months later, there’s still complete silence from the devs. At this point, it’s honestly easier to deal with Discord’s changes than to wait a decade between updates from TeamSpeak.

I’m also canceling my community subscription — and even the highest tier offers very few slots. I doubt I’ll be able to convince my friends to switch to TeamSpeak again. At this point, it seems more realistic to hope for a new alternative to appear than to expect anything from the current developers.

Great, badges distributed after such a long time, now just release those new server files and we’re home

It’s been two months and still no update :frowning:

TeamSpeak staff, what is going on? It’s really not funny anymore.

It was greatly appreciated that you posted in march upcoming feature / fixes, there is no timeline at all. In past there were many thing written on forums and then “silent” made it sink in the sea, and projects were abandoned.

When can we expect server files, is that 1 month or half year? It’s really strange that “fine-tunning” is happening like 4-5 months. Will be there soon client update?

Please be concrete I think loyal users on forums deserve that, ignorance is the most annoying thing that could be, you lose day by day users because nobody knows what’s going on …

Community manager is trolling all the time Discord on X, but this project is far away from Discord.

If I compare it, there is many many many things to do.

  • TeamSpeak mobile apps are obsolete and doesn’t offer modern features (video, screenshare, sending media),
  • Server Files are not released for TS6,
  • Max 5MB attachment limitation on TS6,
  • Videos are not playing in the client,
  • Screenshare peer-to-server in not implemented
  • We’re waiting hardware acceleration and codec improvements.

I think things above are critical to be fixed / released, but everything is moving so slowly, I don’t know what are goals of SEO, but things should change in better way, many people with me what to TeamSpeak all the best, but past is repeating.

It was said that it will be more transparent communication, but ignorance is all the time from the staff, why should people convince their friends to move to TeamSpeak, it has so many limitaitons.

I beg you to change things in better way, it’s great concept but things need to move forward asap.

Do not take this message as attack or hate on staff, but try to understand people like me who don’t know what’s happening and people ask many things, but no concrete answers about upcoming releases or estimated release plans.

And again I love TeamSpeak, do not take this as a hate, I want to TeamSpeak that it success and make a lot of money.

Me and my friend group are so ready to ditch Discord, its so bad I might just uninstall it even without moving to an alternative soon.

TeamSpeak is so close yet the lack of communication and updates completely kill the opportunity for me to convince my friends. Fixing the issues you outlined would instantly make me able to get my whole group in TeamSpeak. At this point I’m begging.

I know this will never happen, but at this point just opensource it

Every poorly managed opensource project is more transparent…

P.S. You won’t make big money with TS anymore

Using your own userbase for testing is fine.
But let them pay for it… and don’t even provide fixes or updates…

Doesn’t seem right, does it?

bro its getting bad, im tryna use TS as a main but I cant. TS is no better a company then discord, I just appreciate being able to keep my server convos and chats private.

I want to provide some insights into what’s currently going on:

First and foremost, I completely understand that the lack of communication is frustrating. This is something we haven’t mastered yet, as many long-time users already know. Just because it’s been this way for a while doesn’t mean we can use that as an excuse to keep doing it. Please believe me when I say that this is something we’re actively working on, but it will take us time to get it right.

In early April, we released the first iteration of hardware acceleration to our alpha testers. This introduced OpenH264, a new rendering system for streams, true peer-to-peer streaming with single encoding and vastly reduced memory usage. The updates that followed focused on fixing everything reported by our alpha testers during the testing phase, which takes time to work out.

While our client developers were working on the first iteration of hardware acceleration and preparing it for the next phase (proper GPU utilization), other team members focused on getting all community subscribers their appropriate supporter badges. To be completely honest, this took us longer than we wanted, but in the end, it worked out great. Thank you for your patience.

We’ve also done enhanced testing on the username change feature. As mentioned in the announcement post, our biggest concern is how well our services will handle the volume of renaming requests once the feature is reactivated. It required us to rework several services to make sure they’re stable, can handle the incoming load, and properly process the requests so that renames actually go through.

Now, regarding server files, and trust me, we know everyone wants them. During the ongoing development of the TeamSpeak 6 Server, we decided to implement a new/updated file transfer system. This is a big upgrade to the server and requires a lot of work, research, and testing. I really hate pulling the “our team is small” card, but honestly, that’s our reality, and has been for a while. We have great plans and know what needs to be done, but we simply don’t have enough people to move as fast as we’d like.

Please keep in mind that, at this early stage, things will naturally take longer because it’s a new/upgraded server with different features. We just have to get it right. This is the backbone of every community using TeamSpeak, and if the server isn’t working properly, then what’s the point? Once the new server reaches a solid, releasable, well-performing state, we’ll be able to push out updates much faster.

Now, the reason why I decided against making this a new announcement post is due to the fact that we’re getting closer every day to finishing the points we’ve mentioned in the latest community update. I’d much rather focus the next post on new developments and what’s coming next for TeamSpeak, instead of repeating the same topics. I hope you understand.

We read every comment, every concern, and every piece of feedback. We fully understand your frustration and feel the pressure from the outside as well. Please understand that we’re nowhere near the size of our competitors in terms of funding and staff. When things take longer, when we fall short on communication, or when mistakes happen, it’s not due to a lack of care. It’s because we’re a small team, and we want to do things right. We genuinely appreciate when members of the community share their opinions and call us out when we fall short, because it gives us the opportunity to re-evaluate our plans and consider whether we’re truly on the right path, whether that’s with communication or the work we’re doing on the product.

Thank you.

You know what?

Thank you, genuinely.

I appreciate the transparency, and want feels like genuine honesty here.

All we (well, I, but I’m sure many others feel the same way) is just some communication, what you’ve done here is basically all I was looking for, it makes me feel like you haven’t forgotten about the community.

I’m still looking forward to having a great selfhosted communication service, and I’m excited to see what TS6 brings, when it’s ready.

As you said yourself, communication is something teamspeak still hasn’t got the hang of, so I’m also excited to see how teamspeak as a whole takes charge of the issues around communication.

Okay so how many days till we get the server files /s

Thanks for the update <3

Let announcements be for the announcements
But such a text with a status is awesome and shows a bit more of what you have struggles with (which is totally normal in developing software)

All these reasons for why we are at the current state and that some is come a long way

Perfect example of a “simple” update and hopefully others are seeing this as well <3
