TS5 (or is it TS6 now?) Selfhosted

I think a lot of people here just want a clear answer whether the TS6 server binaries are going to be released at all. I think a simple confirmation it’s eventually happening would clear up a lot of confusion.

this post is such an unfortunate truthnuke

Just let us know if it was planned for today or not, if “soon” is later in the month or smth that is not an issue but at least tell us.
So I can go to SLEEP and not wait for the files!

I belive this is some fever dream, whats the point of new client without server files? 80% of users propably are using self hosted servers since we really value low pings, privacy and reliability. I think someone missed whos the targeted audience. I hope this is not the biggest shoot into the foot i have ever seen after making all of this hype. :frowning:

if not today (maybe at max the end of this week), they basically just lost the biggest amount of potential traction and the chance at a fresh and new userbase

just a little meme to chill out a bit

Guys, it’s as simple as “soon” meaning yes, but not at this moment.

They kinda need to make a few bucks though. They’re not a charity. And, as I mentioned somewhere before, I would gladly give them a few bucks for a server, and I believe many others would, too. A truly missed opportunity.

I would rather give them a few bucks for a server license, while self-hosting it.

Yeah, but they were making few bucks though by selling licenses for upgraded servers
32 slot servers were always free when selfhosted, but if you did want more then that, you had to but license for your own self-hosted server

That is completely fine. I have zero issues with them having a paid option. But I want to host my own server, like I have for the last 6 years.

I don’t know, i have a bad feeling - like they want to disguise something

A lot of us just want to know if there are any plans for server-files at all. And if they will have 100% feature parity

They will have self hosted option but its going to be unusable (like 6 slots) so you have to buy their community ones. Mark my words.

I don’t think they could ruin their entire product and customer base just for a few bucks in communities that are just another option in the market for people who don’t want to deal with self-hosted solutions.

The pricing and a maximum of 25 slots also feels a bit silly.

Maybe I should’ve clarified that I’d gladly give them a few bucks for a perpetual license for a self-hosted server software. I’ve hosted my own TS server for a similar number of years.

Oh absolutely. I would do the same.

I would agree with the previous speakers that I have no problem at all, even a smaller server needs a license, but I would like to host it myself.
