It wouldn’t be too much of a problem for me to migrate to Community server, but oh well - can’t even set one up
Quite disappointing, not gonna lie.

So, if I’ve understood correctly:
I’m one of those users who loves TeamSpeak because I can self-host it, not just for privacy reasons but also for reduced latency
Honestly, I’m unsure whether TeamSpeak can compete with Discord like this. I also sense a disconnect between the company and the reasons why people choose to use TeamSpeak.
I imagine most of these decisions are driven by the fact that TeamSpeak is a company and it obviously needs to generate revenue, but I’m not convinced this is the right approach.
As others have mentioned, I wouldn’t mind paying for a licence to use screensharing on my own server, but I’d like to retain the ability to self-host.
I’m positive they will release v6-compatible server at some point, but I wouldn’t expect it to be there anytime soon (maybe a few weeks or a month), considering the sheer amount of bugs EVERYWHERE
Client is barely functional, P2P screenshare barely works, Communities stuff is pretty much dead. I’m pretty sure they will be fixing those first, and THEN release the server.
Can only hope it will not be as bad as this all stuff.
I don’t think it’s too difficult to clarify whether or not the teamspeak team has the INTENT to support screensharing on self hosted solutions…
Partial and riddle-like answers are not a good look to me
For other commentors: I think unrealistic timelines and pushing the developers to have a finished product on BETA release is not worth commenting on the forums for…
Looking forward to the server files, hopefully its a real thing.
We all will have to wait for a while for the Server files. If the setup of the old TS-5Beta Servers is anywhere near the same then its not as easy as the TS3 Server is and requiers a lot more konwledge.
You will just have to wait some time until there is the right Documentaion for it and its easier to setup.
The documentation and binaries should have been ready before the release and definitely before they took to twitter to tell us that screen sharing is ready…
whelp. my discord group were looking forward to me setting up a ts6 server up because we want to migrate away, but without server files thats not gonna happen. guess ill check back later
I think the twitter posts should of just clarified that this is early beta. Even on the community servers non p2p screensharing is fully greyed out, clearly not a finished product yet.
+1, honestly it comes off really amateurish. Especially considering that they are trying to take user share from a competitor that figured this out ten years ago. The one thing that makes people actually want to switch is the thing that isn’t ready.
On the offical Teamspeak Hosted ones it should be available if you are not using MacOS (only Linux and Windows). The TS3 Servers do not support Screenshare wich is at the moment any other Server that is not hosted by TeamSpeak.
Hell yeah fellas, its time for teamspeak again. Except we need to wait for the ts6 server files xD
Wait to release the server files until you can collect some subscription fees for the communities and fund further development of the platform.
I support what you do, so have a couple of my bucks for now and I’ll self host TS6 whenever it’s ready. Just not too long please
Waiting and a little patience, is it so complicated ?..
Your answer is clear, but unfortunately no one bothers to understand it. Moreover, they throw criticism without looking further than their noses.
So much drama here.
“Silence” is because they probably still discuss license things between themselves (it’s still beta 1) & ETA might be still not locked, and it’s pretty obvious that it’s very delicate situation right here - stakes are high with this discord-killer update. They will probably clear situation in a few days, and if I would be you, I’d be optimistic.
Has zero todo with patience? We want clarity that costs them literally zero. Stop whiteknighting shitty practices.
It isnt clear what so ever. A simple “Yes, the files are going to be eventually released, However we dont have an ETA when” Would literally shut everyone up. Instead they seem to be keeping us in the dark to get more money via the community system.
They neither confirmed nor denied it, my god just chill.
Perhaps my previous comment and my additional note during one of the bumps weren’t clear enough, I apologize for that.
Just to clear things up and make it very straightforward: Yes, we will be releasing new server files, but I can’t give an exact time frame as to when that will happen.
As soon as I have more information myself, I will let you all know. Please bear with me as I try to reply to users across different platforms, while at the same time trying to address any concerns and issues people are facing.
Thank you!
