I think the main thing most people are wondering, myself included, is about screen sharing on self hosted servers. Is it locked behind a paywall or not?
No, nothing is locked behind a paywall.
Wonderful! Looking forward to the new server files dropping, thanks for the clarification!
I have the same comment as user above. Thanks and I look forward to full release king
Thank you!
The expected announcement has finally come, thank you.
SYOX, you are the man
Will the new self-hosted server version be backward compatible with TeamSpeak 3 users allowing them to join such server?
I fully understand that TS3 will be treated as a legacy product aiming to reach EOL, but our quite large server community graphs show that 79% of our users are still using it.
Therefore, we are concerned about whether the switch to the ts5/ts6 will be smooth enough to gradually encourage more users to switch to the new ts6 rather than creating a sudden wall between ts3 and ts6 users.
If they have the TeamSpeak 3 Client Version 3.6.0 and above
you will able to join TeamSpeak 6 Servers.
Do we have to use login system all time? Or will you stick to what is written on your website āPrivacy Built-In - Designed with privacy in mind, we do not have access to your voice or text chat data, and there is no sign-up required.ā
Please let me know @SYOX
Hi Rikku,
Iāve noticed that too on the current subscription community servers, however their build date is almost half a year old, and still donāt have features like screen sharing so a lot can change in between
On login screen thereās caption that says āLogin is needed to login into this beta-versionā.
I just rented a Linux Server to host my own TS6 Server just to read that its not possible right now
You are not alone brother, i did just the same
Nonetheless, its still an adventure for me just trying to understand how to backup my server right
Just backup said files/folders to a temporal location
install and start up your new ts3 server
stop it
paste the files of your backup definetly overwrite if asked
start it
profit
Well it is just no screenshare
Itās beta 1 - please, donāt forget that
Then they shouldnāt be taking to Twitter to announce that āscreen sharing is finally hereā and certainly shouldnāt be linking articles on how to delete your discord account.
Teamspeak was always a thing about selfhosting
Which makes it completely reasonable to have expected server binaries.
Iām glad that they clarified that the binaries will come, but I still think this was really poorly handled and should be called out as such.
Yeah I did expect the server files myself, but seeing it from another perspective having all the errors on hand as they host it in ācommunitiesā for now
They will be able to provide a more stable experience for when the Server Files are actually provided
If server errors were coming in through forum they would spend a ton of time fixing initial issues with the TS6 Server which could be easier diagnosed on systems they have control of
But I do agree they should have announced the missing Server Files early on
Thank you so much for your transparency with us! We all truly appreciate that we now have the ability to host our own TS servers, including the screen-sharing feature. This is a fantastic step forward, and weāre all very excited about it!
However, I have a suggestion for improvement: Currently, hardware acceleration is not enabled during screen sharing. It would be amazing if the screen sharing could utilize the GPU instead of relying on the CPU. As it stands, it puts quite a heavy load on the CPU. I believe this would be a valuable improvement that many users would benefit from.
Thank you in advance for your efforts!
Take a look here, that stuff is planned:
