TS6 BETA Release - Updates & Ongoing Issues

cant wait for server files, keep up the great work  :face_holding_back_tears: i proud of you

Great post, my community seems to be running at the moment.

Something I have noticed when I was setting up my roles: I couldn’t really upload any icons.
Tried the old 16x16 jpeg format but my icons didn’t seem to get properly uploaded to the server with only the default “missing image” showing.

Is this a known issue due to overloaded servers at the moment?

Disappointed:

  • electron or any other webview desktop client, goodbye blazing fast desktop client

  • Chat Messages seems to be stored locally, that is actually good for privacy, but if you change PC or start fresh, this will disappear, i guess this will change when TS6 server files are published, or a least add a way to some sort of sync , with dropbox, gdrive, webdav, local folder, etc

  • Chat images are stored in myTeamSpeak servers instead on the self-hosted server, why??, you even required to be connected to myTeamSpeak to work, so whats different to discord then?, i was very happy with this release with the idea that i could have 100% selfhosted solution and private but now very disappointed

  • No reactions to message, reply, edit or delete

  • No way to be conneced like “chat only” , you are always in a voice channel, and you are not able to read message from another channels unless you are in them

  • Bot integrations?

Maybe you have a very small value in “Resolution”-“Icon Max file size(Bytes)” or no value at all.

is there any plans to implement chat features such as deleting and editing to community servers?

Hello,
i still have the issue of a sound spike when someone begins to talk. Its considerably louder at the start of voice activation for less than a second and goes to normal right after. That was already an error in the newest TS3 Version if i remember correctly.
Anybody else got that problem?

from where i can get a ts6 server ? Ty

Not available at the moment you have to wait for it to be released.

Well it’s no place for a 1o1 conversation anyways but I still strongly disagree. I think you misunderstand the feelings behind my words as I may have misunderstood yours. I guess we agree to disagree in our ways to put things. Its fine.

To keep on the subject, my biggest expectations are chat related features as I don’t think they are in the center of TS team concerns, having to use MyTS network for 1o1 or group convs, or having to join a channel in order to see/participate in the chat is not the most convenient way to use it in my opinion. It’s not top priority ofc but I’m saying because that is the thing I’d enjoy to see updates about in the mid-long term future, once VoIP, ScreenShare (codec, server base, hardware accel and so on …), basic server features are addressed.

Same here, just stuck on “Starting community…”

as somebody said above, luckily it is on a 7 day trial.

Same here i need a fix to this absolutly

After upgrading to version 6, when I have my virtual machines and vscode running, my windows 11 computer just freezes at the moment when I get a message in the chat room, it can happen in a few hours, the chat room just freezes, the whole computer freezes to death, this was not the case with version 5, I had to upgrade to version 3 because of this, yesterday and today I have no problems with version 3.

Try adding --disable-gpu to the launch arguments of TS6. Maybe this helps.

We have heard many concerns about self-hosting and whether we will move away from it with the introduction of Communities. We can assure everyone that this is not the case. Self-hosting is a core feature of TeamSpeak, and our intention is to provide the full TS6 experience, which includes screen-sharing, in the near future. We are still fine-tuning and actively working on the TS6 Server to ensure the best possible experience for everyone. We appreciate your patience as we prepare the server files for release.

It seems awfully convenient that while the development team is “fine-tuning” and “actively working” on the server files for self-hosting TS6 for screen sharing, they’ve somehow found the development time to create TeamSpeak Communities.

“We’re sorry the TS6 server files aren’t ready yet, but don’t stress! These server files spontaneously transform and work on our servers. So, if you’d like to use this feature for your community, just pay us! We’ve even set up a self-checkout portal where you can choose your tier, fill in your details, set up a subscription, and a server will be made just for you.”

After all this time waiting for this feature, the most loyal users are greeted with this when it finally becomes “available”.

I don’t buy any of the excuses. Bugs have never stopped any TeamSpeak server version from releasing in the past.

The company just wanted to capitalise on the excitement and roll out a custom red carpet for large communities to move over. This level of arrogance has to stop - release TS6 server files A.S.A.P.

When the “other app” is so deeply ingrained in online culture, you need to re-earn your place in the minds of the masses and position yourself as a welcoming, refreshing alternative.

Pissing off the people who actively make your platform popular isn’t the solution, and neither is a meme Twitter page.

I’m rooting for TeamSpeak. Not this.

Thanks.

I hope that self-hosted servers will allow server sided screenshare, which is the biggest advanced of TeamSpeak. I agree that they should release asap server files, if they wouldn’t have server issues I wouldn’t complain otherwise, it’s big issue atm.

I think you missunderstand how complex the Setup for the old Beta Temspeak 5 Server (no longer working and available) was, it was nothing lilke the TS3 Server where you just have to run one Program.

For the old Beta TS5 Server it was serveral Docker Containers and some Networking magic to get it all to work wich was no small task. And they probably will release the TS6 Server Files as soon as they have all problems worked out and a user friendly setup/documentation wich does not requier very advanced skills and knowledge to do.
