The forum has been really quiet for the past month. Maybe everyone was waiting for major announcements since the server “beta” period was supposed to end according to the license terms. But all we got was a simple extension of the beta licenses without any specifics on the implementation of vital TeamSpeak features. Instead of news about a client update, we get very vague and non-transparent statements that are completely unclear in terms of user benefits.
Why, after two months of a beta that was supposed to be ending, is this all the community gets? If your attempts to sort out the licensing were presented alongside long-awaited DATES or specifics about client functionality, server-side screen sharing, hardware acceleration, or maybe an announcement for the mobile client - then yeah, it wouldn’t feel so bleak. But as it stands, it seems like either nothing is ready, or there’s simply nothing there at all.
It’s sad. There’s still no reason to use a TS6 server or even the TS6 client because all the announced features don’t work as they should, and they haven’t been updated or fixed. I’m running out of ways to convince my friends to switch to TeamSpeak. In a month, a bunch of major game releases are coming out, and if you aren’t planning to launch at such a convenient time, I think you can stop worrying about licenses - they simply won’t be needed by anyone.
We’ll move to Discord, which is still light-years ahead, or we’ll stick with TS3, which TS6 can’t even compete with. I don’t enjoy going back to Discord and paying for a subscription, but the alternative in the form of a TS3 (oops, I mean TS6) server offers absolutely nothing in 2025.
Unfortunately, that’s true. I would have liked to see more ‘finished’ news about at least the licences and how server distribution is supposed to continue in general.
News about the client Update are here, again very vague:
I totally understand how you feel. It’s not easy to keep your friends interested in TeamSpeak. I can only confirm what Syox wrote. A lot is happening for the next client update, and Screenshare is really good with hardware acceleration. We get an alpha update almost every week, so things are really moving forward.
You’re an alpha tester? There’s an alpha? This is news to me. Is it open registration?
Interesting that the alpha is going so well, but not a single update is worth moving to the beta branch. All the regulars here are probably in the beta, so I think a client or server update to the beta would go a long way.
yes and yes. I don’t think it’s open at the moment. It was possible back in 2021 to apply:
It is going well yes but as Syox has mentioned several times, there are still problems with Mac OS, among other things. Hardware acceleration is also not something that can be released piece by piece; it is a large, complex construction.
Being honest with you, if you came to TeamSpeak just to gaslighting how TeamSpeak is inferior in comparison to Discord. You know what? Just go back to your Discord, because what the community needs right now is not another person comparing A to B.
I don’t understand why people keep doing that, but it’s annoying every single time comparing Apples with Oranges and saying Apples are better because this and that and that’s why they won’t succeed. Your arguments are invalid and what you are doing is giving yourself and your friends an excuse to be using TeamSpeak, not because you liked tho…
So yeah, wants to go back to Discord? Go for it, you are free to do it… We as a TeamSpeak community don’t care about your announcements of leaving the community tho, nor the community nor the devs care because this is not a competition in the first place. Why the X TeamSpeak account keeps joking about Discord, because that clearly makes people engage and that’s just the point of the shitposts.
I am running a NonProfit license server, ours expired during a license server blackout and they promptly issued me a new non profit license. this was 16th of december 2021.
ask them politely, maybe they’ll help you out
Yes 2021 because that was probably during the transition phase to the sponsor license but now there really isn’t any way to get the NPL back so please just apply for the sponsor license thanks!
Long time user, even a reseller for a few years and a current npl owner im glade to see there is still life in Ts. all this money and greed talk does have me a little worried about its future and the fact that so many have already switched to the other voip as there go to. fingers crossed
What happens if TeamSpeak “Reporting” server is unstable / Goes offline?
If 1. Is not a problem, what will halt license abusers, in not simply blocking the call home reporting?
Because I would really dislike if my servers up-time is relying on the Reporting server, as I would then see the reporting server disrupt the “de-centralized” functionality of TeamSpeak (Comparing to e.g. Discord)
I had a TS server for several years with a license and in all those years I never had a problem with the server going offline just because the license server wasn’t available
So that is very unlikely to be the issue since the license check call is only every 2 hours anyway
And to your second question: the server will end up on the blocklist and then no user can join anymore because the IP and more will be blocked by TeamSpeak Client
sad to see u guys destroy teamspeak it was so great but ever since u release this teamspeak 5 dogshit its just been trash i am still using teamspeak 3 and will prob forever
